Main hospitals: there are 166 various health institutions, including 9 hospitals, 154 grass-roots medical institutions and 3 professional public health institutions. All kinds of health institutions actually have 2301 beds. There are 3570 health staff, including 1376 practicing (assistant) doctors and 1473 registered nurses. There are 24 municipal key specialties.

The District People's Hospital (Lishui branch of Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University) is a class III comprehensive hospital. The District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital (the Southern Hospital of Jiangsu Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital) is a class III traditional Chinese medicine hospital. The District Third People's Hospital (psychiatric prevention and treatment hospital) is a Grade II Level A psychiatric hospital, and the District Maternal and Child Health Hospital and Aier Eye Hospital (private medical institutions) are two class II hospitals. Five public institutions include the district disease prevention and control center, the district health supervision office, the district maternal and child health care center, the district health infrastructure center and the district health information and technology center. There are five central health centers of Shiqiu, Baima, Hefeng, Jingqiao and Zhetang, and three street and town health centers of Yongyang, Dongping and Honglan (community health service center). There are 97 village clinics (community health service stations). Private hospitals include Liang's Orthopedic Hospital, Aier Eye Hospital, Lidu Hospital and Zhongshan Hospital.Jinniu Nursing Home is a public and private medical and nursing integration institution. The construction of Jiangsu Rehabilitation Hospital and Nanjing Elderly Care Center have been started in Lishui.

Lishui district has successively become a national advanced unit in grass-roots traditional Chinese medicine, a provincial standard area for schistosomiasis elimination, a provincial standard area for comprehensive prevention and control of chronic diseases, a provincial demonstration area for high-quality maternal and child health services, a provincial standard area for health emergency , and a provincial demonstration area for grass-roots mass autonomy in family planning. Zhetang, Baima, Dongping, Honglan and Jingqiao have become provincial health towns. Three health centers (community health service centers) in Zhetang, Dongping and Honglan are township health centers, and six health centers (community health service centers) in Baima, Shiqiu, Hefeng, Dongping, Honglan and Jingqiao are provincial demonstration township health centers. The reform of county-level public hospitals has been commended by the people's Government of Jiangsu Province for four consecutive years.

Lishui has been cooperating with the outside world in running hospitals. In the form of hospital-government cooperation (cooperation between the hospital and the district government), it has jointly built the District People's Hospital, the District Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital and the District Third People's hospital with Zhongda Hospital Affiliated to Southeast University, Nanjing University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jiangsu Integrated Traditional Chinese and Western Medicine Hospital and Nanjing Brain Hospital. The hospital management system has been adjusted to the president responsibility system under the leadership of the hospital council with the legal representative appointed by the superior cooperative hospital.

Lishui has been strengthening the construction of regional medical union. The District People's Hospital, the District Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and the Town Street Health Center (Community Health Service Center) carried out cooperation, formed four modes of cooperation in establishing integrated joint wards, trusteeship of township health centers, specialist alliance, and cooperation between township health centers and urban Grade III hospitals, and achieved remarkable results.
