Lishui district is subordinate to Nanjing City, Jiangsu Province. It is located in the south-central part of Nanjing, covering an area of 1067 square kilometers. It governs 3 towns and 5 streets. With convenient transportation, it is a three-dimensional hub city integrating airport, railway, rail transit, highway and waterway. The ecological environment in the area is good, the forest coverage rate reaches 35.88%, the air quality reaches the national class II standard, and the water quality reaches the national class II standard. It is known as "South Center of Nanjing, healthy and dynamic new city" and "natural oxygen bar".

Lishui was established as a county in the 11th year of Sui Dynasty (AD 591). Bai Jikang, a poet of Tang Dynasty, Zhou Bangyan, a poet of Song Dynasty, Yuan Mei, a writer of Qing Dynasty, once served as the county magistrate of Lishui. Cui Zhiyuan, the ancestor of Confucianism in Korea, once served as the county captain of Lishui. Xie Lingyun, Li Bai, Yan Zhenqing, Yang Wanli and other literati of all dynasties visited Lishui and left many poems praising Lishui. There are many cultural relics such as Wuxiang Temple, Wuxiang mountain cliff stone carvings, Tiansheng Bridge, Yanzhi River, Changle Bridge, Putang Bridge, Yongshou Tower, Fuma Tomb, as well as cultural relics such as Zhongshanhao, Xiaoguanbei, Luoshandalong and Mingjue iron painting.

Lishui district is a national advanced unit of mass sports, one of the first demonstration areas of public sports service system in Jiangsu Province and has built five characteristic sports parks such as Xingzhuang Health Sports Park and eight town street level sports parks. The new pattern of fitness trails, bicycle trails, multi-functional sports squares and fitness paths to the whole district, town and village promotes the development of the "10-minute sports fitness circle" to the fitness service circle of "5 minutes to the green space, 10 minutes to the greenway and 15 minutes to the park", and promotes the 100% opening of sports venues and facilities in public schools that meet the opening conditions to the society, completed the construction of 67 football venues. At present, there are 943 national fitness centers and 594 fitness paths in the region, with a per capita sports area of 5.56 square meters, 83 mass social sports organizations, 65 sports social instructors per 10000 people, 42% of them often participate in physical exercise, 98% of them pass the national physical fitness monitoring, and more than 200 mass events are held every year, The spring long-distance running games are held once a year and the Lishui district games are held every four years.

By 2020, Lishui district has won the titles of national garden city, National Health City, national ecological zone, national ecological civilization construction demonstration zone, national top 100 comprehensive strength zone, national top 100 investment potential zone, national top 100 green development zone, national top 100 scientific and technological innovation zone, and national top 100 new urbanization quality zone. At present, Lishui has "six experimental demonstration zones": Nanjing National Agricultural High-tech Industry Demonstration Zone, the first batch of national and the only one in the Yangtze River Delta, the National Airport Economic Demonstration Zone has the only airport bonded logistics center (type b) in Nanjing, Jiangsu health practice demonstration zone, the only one in the province, Nanjing Hangzhou eco economic belt cooperation pilot zone, the first inter provincial cooperation pilot zone in Nanjing Hangzhou eco economic belt, National pilot zone for integrated urban and rural development, the only high-quality manufacturing development pilot area in Nanjing.
