On the morning of June 5, 2025, the theme publicity event for Lishui District’s 6.5 Environmental Day officially kicked off at the Wuxiang Mountain National Forest Park. The event was jointly organized by the Lishui Ecological Environment Bureau and the District Environmental Group. Representatives from the Municipal Ecological Environment Bureau, relevant district units, towns (streets), enterprises, environmental volunteers, and students and teachers from Lishui Vocational School gathered at Wuxiang Mountain National Forest Park to participate in this theme event, which integrated ecological education with scientific practice.
The event began with the stunning debut of the short film "The Magnificent Scroll of Lishui’s Natural Endowment." This short film, which aligns with this year’s 6.5 Environmental Day theme “Beautiful China, I Take the Lead,” immersed the audience in the unique ecological charm of Lishui, instantly igniting their love and pride for the local landscape. During the launch ceremony, Lishui District showcased its ecological environment protection “report card”: Better air quality. The rate of good air quality has risen to 82.2%, and the annual average concentration of PM2.5 has decreased by 17.1%; Better water quality. The water quality of national, provincial, and municipal assessment sections, as well as centralized drinking water sources, meets standards at a 100% rate; Safer soil. The safe utilization rate of construction land and contaminated farmland is 100%; Greener industries. From shutting down chemical enterprises to nurturing emerging industries such as new energy vehicles and intelligent manufacturing, from building agricultural parks to creating beautiful villages and characteristic rural areas, the ecological economy is thriving.
The Lishui District Biodiversity Science Popularization and Education Exhibition Hall, located at the Bare Heart Ridge of Wuxiang Mountain, was unveiled during the event. This exhibition hall combines science education, achievement display, and interactive experiences, serving as an important window for citizens to learn about Lishui’s ecological foundation and enhance environmental awareness.
During the event, Ding Hui, Chief Expert of the Biodiversity Conservation and Biosafety Research Center at the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, presented the “Lishui Biodiversity Survey Results Report.” Using detailed data and scientific analysis, he revealed the rich biodiversity of Lishui, showcased significant progress in conservation efforts, and provided crucial information for future protection work.
After the unveiling ceremony, the participants, as the first audience, visited the newly completed Biodiversity Science Popularization and Education Exhibition Hall. “I didn’t expect Lishui to have so many rare species, and the interactive experience in the museum is amazing. It increased my pride as a Lishui native and made me realize the importance of harmonious coexistence between humans and nature,” said Zhang, a student from Lishui Vocational School.
After the main event, an outdoor biodiversity exploration was held at Wuxiang Mountain. Experts from the Nanjing Institute of Environmental Sciences, Ministry of Ecology and Environment, along with all the party members of the Lishui Ecological Environment Bureau, acted as "special mentors," leading some students from Lishui Vocational School deep into the forest. This allowed the classroom to move into nature. The students became “ecological detectives,” identifying plants, observing ecosystems, and personally practicing the profound meaning of “Beautiful China, I Take the Lead.”
On this Environmental Day, we planted green seeds at Wuxiang Mountain, looking forward to the blossoming of ecological flowers all over Lishui in the future.
