"Let More People Discover and Taste Lishui"

On December 9, the media field trip event “Seasonal Invitation, Taste Lishui” took place. Journalists from mainstream media outlets in Jiangsu and Nanjing, including Jiangsu Television, Nanjing Television, and Nanjing Daily, along with local social media influencers, formed a reporting group that ventured into fields and greenhouses, visited mountain homestays, and wandered through ancient village alleys to experience the vibrant integration of agriculture, tourism, and culture in Lishui.

The first stop of the trip was at the “Meimei Garden” strawberry planting base in Honglan Street. Inside the greenhouse, bright red, plump strawberries hung from vertical cultivation racks, filling the air with their sweet fragrance. The company’s deputy general manager, Shi Qiongrui, introduced that this year the base has planted nearly 30 acres of strawberries, promoting four main varieties, including “Meimei Pudding” and “Angel No. 8,” which hit the market by mid-November, nearly a month earlier than other local strawberries. Currently, the average daily sales exceed 100 pounds, and a pick-your-own experience will open around New Year’s Day.

At the Taining New Agricultural Ecological Park, the “Red Beauty” citrus fruits were abundant on the branches, and the red-fleshed dragon fruit was enticing… Here, tropical fruits are being cultivated on a large scale, relying on the planting techniques of Taiwanese merchants and collaborations with research institutes, while also expanding into agrotourism, parent-child educational activities, and more, continuously extending the agricultural value chain.

During the interview, the journalists captured the scene with their cameras, asking questions about planting techniques and sales models, and they personally picked fruits, enjoying the freshness “from branch to fingertip.” “The innovative breakthroughs in Lishui agriculture are impressive,” said Zheng Yidi, a journalist from Nanjing Television. He noted that local innovations in varieties and technologies not only help farmers increase their income but also enrich market supply, and he will convey the vibrant practices of high-quality agricultural development in Lishui through his reports.

The group then traveled through the bamboo sea of Wuxiang Mountain and arrived at the “Clouds Above Bamboo” resort in Jingqiao Town. This resort, covering over 1,100 acres, integrates boutique homestays, local dining, family entertainment, fruit picking, and nature education, and has become a comprehensive leisure destination. As the journalists walked around, they observed and took notes, exploring how rural tourism has become a “golden engine” for increasing villagers' incomes and stimulating internal motivation.

“We are especially popular with families and study groups,” said Tai Xifeng, the resort manager. By collaborating with six surrounding cooperatives and over ten family farms, they provide more than 2,000 temporary jobs throughout the year, effectively promoting local employment. Since the beginning of this year, the sales of related agricultural products have exceeded 16 million yuan.

In the afternoon, the reporting group visited Shishanxia Village, a key tourism village in Jiangsu and a distinctive rural area. From tea brewing by the fire, camping and barbecuing, to stargazing films, corporate team-building, outdoor weddings, and parent-child study trips, the village is evolving into a space for diverse rural experiences. Staff from the Lishui Media Group shared that since operations began in March this year, the village has welcomed about 100,000 visitors and hosted over 30 various events.

The journalists observed the making of traditional rice cakes, feeling the warmth of the craftsmanship, and engaged deeply with villagers and artisans to record the vibrant pulse of rural culture. Reporter Tang Xinlei from Longhu Net remarked, “From the technological strawberries of Meimei Garden, Taining’s tropical orchards, to the mountain resort at Clouds Above Bamboo and the rustic charm of Shishanxia—Lishui has built a rural ecosystem that is ‘enjoyable, playable, delectable, and livable.’ I will use various formats, including graphics and videos, to report and let more people discover and taste Lishui.”

In recent years, Lishui has continued to deepen the integration of “agriculture + tourism + culture,” leveraging its ecological and cultural advantages to cultivate a number of distinctive brands, such as strawberry picking, boutique homestays, and intangible cultural heritage experiences, attracting numerous urban tourists to the countryside in search of nostalgia. From January to October this year, the district received 5.3817 million visitors in leisure agriculture, generating a total income of 1.08 billion yuan, steadily growing into a popular destination for short-term leisure tourism in the Yangtze River Delta.
