Recently, the first commercial hydrogen station in Lishui District commenced operations at the Zhetang East Gas Station, with a daily hydrogen refueling capacity of 500 kilograms. A hydrogen-powered bus can be fully refueled in less than 10 minutes.

At the Zhetang East Hydrogen Station, a hydrogen bus slowly drives in as staff skillfully operate the hydrogen refueling equipment. Approximately 13 kilograms of hydrogen is injected into the refueling cylinder, with the entire process taking under 10 minutes. The fully refueled bus can travel nearly 400 kilometers.

The Zhetang East Hydrogen Station is constructed by Sinopec, and includes a hydrogen long tube trailer (with a storage capacity of 340 kilograms) and a hydrogen storage bottle group designed for a pressure of 45 MPa (with a storage capacity of 260 kilograms), bringing the total hydrogen storage capacity to 600 kilograms.

The refueling area is equipped with a dual-gun hydrogen dispenser, which can refuel hydrogen buses, hydrogen logistics vehicles, and hydrogen-powered passenger cars. The daily hydrogen refueling capacity reaches 500 kilograms, sufficient to meet the hydrogen needs of 50 fuel cell vehicles.

“In the past, we had to go to Kaiwo Company for hydrogen refueling, which took half an hour, plus waiting and processing time, making the entire process quite time-consuming,” said Zhou Honggen, a driver for the district’s urban construction group bus company. He noted that the Zhetang East Hydrogen Station is nearby, making the refueling process very convenient and significantly improving operational efficiency.

“As an important supporting facility for new energy vehicles, hydrogen stations are crucial for promoting clean energy and reducing environmental pollution,” said Huang Jin, manager of Sinopec Lishui Company. He added that the Zhetang East Hydrogen Station operates 24 hours a day, providing timely and efficient service for 11 hydrogen-powered buses in Lishui District. In the future, it will expand to include functions such as “charging and auto services,” creating a comprehensive energy station that integrates “finished oil, hydrogen energy, convenience stores, and photovoltaics.” It will also deepen cooperation with Lishui to provide cleaner, more environmentally friendly, and diverse energy supply services, supporting the development of Lishui’s new energy industry.

Hydrogen energy is one of the most promising clean energy sources of the 21st century, and hydrogen stations are a critical link in the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle industry chain, providing necessary support for the promotion and application of fuel cell vehicles. Lishui has been a pioneer in the hydrogen energy industry development in Nanjing, actively laying out its hydrogen energy industry since 2020. In 2021, the first hydrogen energy bus demonstration route in Nanjing was established in Lishui, with all hydrogen fuel cell buses manufactured in Lishui. In 2023, a hydrogen energy industry development plan was formulated, and a specialized team for energy storage and hydrogen energy was established, implementing a “seven-in-one” work mechanism to promote the agglomeration and development of the hydrogen energy industry through a detailed list. The industry chain now covers all aspects of hydrogen “production, storage, transportation, refueling, and usage.” Moving forward, Lishui District will focus on the practical development of the industry, adapt to local conditions, and continue to strengthen and extend the industry chain to create a demonstration park for Nanjing’s hydrogen energy industry.
