3,000 Contestants Gather in Lishui for a Showdown of Robotics!

On August 3,Jiangsu Baima Agricultural International Expo Center transformed into a large,"Technology Arena"2025 World Robotics Competition Youth Robotics Design Competition Jiangsu Selection Kicked off here with enthusiasm, nearly 3,000 young people from across the province Gathered in Lishui to engage in a pinnacle showdown of wisdom and creativity.

Sun Qihua, Director of the Provincial Education Information Technology and Data Management Center, along with district leaders including Fei Lili and Tu Wiguo, jointly launched the event.

The World Robotics Competition, known as the "Olympics of Robotics," is hosted by the China Electronics Society and has successfully held ten editions, attracting over 500,000 participants from more than 20 countries worldwide. In his opening speech, Sun Qihua stated that this year’s competition adheres to a dual-driven approach of "technological industry" and "comprehensive quality," covering all age groups and featuring over 100 competition categories, highlighting China's commitment to cultivating innovative, applied, and skilled talents. He also expressed hope that competitors would showcase their skills and talents, advancing to the national finals.

Entering the competition area, contestants were busy and orderly with equipment debugging, gathering in front of computer screens, fingers rapidly tapping on keyboards as they exchanged strategies; they bent over their robots, carefully calibrating sensors, adjusting the angles of mechanical arms, and attentively observing the trajectories of each test run.

In the primary school lower age group, Ruan Jinyan from Nanjing Lishui Experimental Primary School and her partner were focused, controlling their “smart line-following car.” As first-time competitors, they were full of confidence: “We prepared carefully for a month and hope our car can execute the task perfectly.”

The middle school competition area was equally exciting. Li Xinyue from Lianyungang has been involved in robotics programming since the first grade. This time, she will control a robot to complete several tasks such as raising the flag and transporting supplies. "This competition is not just about improving programming skills; more importantly, I learned teamwork and adaptability," she shared.

The 2025 World Robotics Competition consists of more than 30 major events, over 70 minor events, and more than 100 competition categories, with selection rounds held globally, province-wide, and culminating in both international and national championships. In this Jiangsu selection round of the Youth Robotics Design Competition, categories included "Future Hometown" for lower and higher primary school groups and "Future Town" for higher primary and middle school groups. After six hours of fierce competition, 12 teams from the four categories successfully advanced to the national finals.

Outside the competition arena, a simultaneously held Science and Technology Carnival was also thriving with popularity. Various特色社团(specialty clubs) from middle and primary schools in Lishui showcased their talents: Lishui Experimental Primary School's silkworm arts club demonstrated making silk pendant and sachets; Zhuangyuanfang Primary School's radio direction-finding club showcased the operation of direction-finding equipment; Shiqiao Middle School's robotics club presented live demonstrations of robot making and programming… The impressive displays attracted many spectators. In the interactive experience area, cutting-edge technology demonstrations including iFlytek digital humans, drone formations, agile robotic dogs, and AI from Dilemu opened the eyes of visitors, and children lined up enthusiastically to participate in various fun science and technology experiences.

When robotics meets local flavors, the adjacent Baima Summer Consumption Promotion Event was buzzing with excitement. The summer consumption area, featuring over 30 specialty merchants, showcased the rich agricultural products of Baima, facilitating a multi-dimensional interaction of “watching the competition + experiencing + consuming.” “I specifically brought my child to compete, and I didn’t expect to encounter such an exciting consumption promotion event, buying so many local specialty products. It’s worth the trip!” Ms. Pu, who traveled from downtown Nanjing, said happily. That day, this event, which integrated technology, agriculture, and consumption, added a unique charm to the competition.

The competition provides a stage for innovation and practice for young people, sowing the seeds of technology in their hearts. We look forward to the advancing contestants achieving great results at the national finals and showcasing Jiangsu’s innovation and creativity!
